Mineko Tsuchiya

 Began to play the piano at the age of five. She is a graduate of the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1972 where she was awarded the Kreuzer Prize. Later, she went on to study at the Staatliche Hochschule fur Musik in Freiburg under Prof. Carl Seemann and Prof. Helmut Barth, and graduated in 1975. She also studied at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena receiving the Diploma d'Onore and participated in the Ernen Dorf directed by Prof.George Sebok.

Since 1976, Mineko Tsuchiya has appeared regularly as a recitalist in Tokyo, and her tenth solo recital in Feburary 1996 has received highly acclaimed reviews. She has performed with the Izumigo Festival Orcestra in 1993, '94, '95, and '97.

She formed a duo partnership with Takayoshi Wanami, and they have been giving recitals throughout Japan and Europe including London, Paris, Venice, Budapest and Moscow. They have performed for many radio stations including the BBC, Radio France, Radio DRS [Switzerland], Sudwestfunk, and Hungarian National Radio.

Wanami/Tsuchiya duo have an extensive repertory covering all major sonatas from classical to modern period as well as contemporary works by Japanese and British composers. At their London recital in February 1995, "The Strad" reviewed: [Wanami has found an acutely empathic partner. The pair were inseparable treating each well-honed phrase with mirrored intensity.] "Musical Opinion, Summer 1997" wrote [A superb recital by the Japanese violinist Takayoshi Wanami partnered by pianist Mineko Tsuchiya at St.John's Smith Square, on 16 April affirmed an outstanding artisty. In mainstream masterpieces the ensemble displayed a striking immediacy and expressive depth.]

Their Compact disc of three Brahms Sonatas has been released in 1995.

In 1997 they gave a Chambermusic concert in Tokyo as the commemoration of F.Schubert's Bicentenary and released the C.D. by Piano Trio no.1
